I'm debating about whether to train for my first triathlon next spring ... does anyone have any helpful suggestions on effective training strategies?

Lifetime has triathlon training. I suggest participating in that. I could barely swim a lap when I began the training, but in 7 weeks, I was able to do my first sprint triathlon. It was fun. I came in last, but I did finish and I'm proud of my accomplishment.
The triathlon training was good, reasonably priced, and it was great to train as a team.

The swim is the portion of the race that really intimidates me, so I think it would be great to train with a team. Thanks for the suggestion, Totally Going For It. Have you done one of Life Time Fitness's indoor triathlons? I've heard that's a really good place to start ...
