My neighborhood friends fell into this. We were discussing "job sharing" and one came up with the statement to the effect of wouldn't that be nice if it applied to homemaking & household chores. And so we started brainstorming about things like: rather then all 4 of us driving to the grocery ...why not one who does the shopping for all? (rotates each week), carpooling children, shared vegetable gardening where we each grow a different variety and swap, there are a thousand areas where we can work together to save time, money and move into a "greener" way to live! This has also brought our friendship to a new level.
My personal favorite is that one Sunday out of the month we each make a supper that would feed all four households. The only rules are the ingredients have to come from our garden or from the local farmer's market, be nutritious and come with recipe card. Now while at first it might sound expensive (because one time a month I cook for 17 people)it is actually not. Not only are we supporting our own local growers but we are purchasing in bulk which usually produces a better price. Creativity is amazing and we keep it fun.
This is just our way and we are constantly adding & trying new ways to conserve!

I've been trying to conserve energy--and money--by turning off appliances when I leave the house. Also started turning off the water heater and don't let it run all day.c
